St. Vincent De Paul Society, Vista Radio gearing up for 10th annual Community Christmas

The St. Vincent De Paul Society in Prince George hopes the generosity of local residents comes through in spades once again.

The non-profit is teaming up with Vista Radio for the 10th annual Community Christmas fundraiser taking place tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday.

Spokesperson, Bernie Goold told MyPGNow.com they are hoping to spread a little holiday cheer to those in a tough spot.

“Our greatest support is from the community at large, we are a non-profit and we just want to bring a little bit of positivity even if it’s only for a few days for some people’s lives that have been affected.”

“There has not been a lot of positivity in some people’s lives and we are finding this year that people who have lost their jobs or are being cut back on their jobs are applying and we are very grateful that we will be able to help.”

Goold is hoping they can make some of their food packages a little more appetizing this year once the donations tally up.

“We are really hoping we can put in a few more luxury items over and above what we normally do likes boxes of mandarin oranges or maybe a tin of cookies, something that they will be able to share and make it more Christmas-like,” added Goold.

“We want to continue to do that and add the Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and the Christmas hampers so that in some little way we together can make their lives a little bit brighter.”

Due to the pandemic, people are being asked to make a cash donation at MyPGNow.com.

Last year, over 15-thousand dollars in cash was raised.
