Mail carriers in Prince George will be fighting through extremely cold temperatures this week.
With temperatures dipping to -30 at times, Local CUPW President, Clark Rasmussen doesn’t anticipate any delays but safety will remain the top priority.
“Almost all of our mail carriers are used to this of course. It’s all about layers of clothing and making sure you are keeping warm but also listening to your body and if you are getting cold or anything like that then you know you need to do something.”
“Look out for frostbite, especially in facial areas and even in the hands and toes. We have a lot of veterans here who are used to this now and as far as the mail goes everything should go out on time.”
Rasmussen added residents can also do their part by keeping the outside of their home nice and tidy.
“Making sure things like the driveway are nice and plowed providing a walkway and putting some gravel down is always nice. Ice can be a big factor for our jobs too during the winter weather and also make sure your dogs are restrained.”
Daytime highs in Prince George aren’t anticipated to warm up until Friday at the earliest with a predicted high of -12.
