Prince George Community Foundation launches $1.5 million campaign for 25th anniversary

The Prince George Community Foundation has launched a $1.5 million campaign to grow the foundation’s endowment as part of the organization’s 25th anniversary in Prince George.

According to PG Community Foundation Director of Development, Mindy Stroat, this funding will allow the organization to support more causes in PG.

“The 25th Anniversary campaign is designed with the same premise as when the organization was founded: with the ambition to create a powerful legacy for the long-term vitality of the community,” Stroat stated.

The money raised will provide both a $1.5 million endowment campaign along with a $250,000 flow-through campaign to contribute to the overall impact of the Foundation’s work.

Additionally, it will be used to provide some immediate support for communities across Northern BC.

The Foundation will work to distribute the funding through the following 6 main areas of support, Arts/Culture, Health, Education, Environment, Social Services and Sports/Recreation.

“With the information and knowledge gathered through our foundation’s vital signs reports and studies on the impacts of COVID-19, there are powerful ways we can support our social, economic and cultural health of our community,” explained PG Community Foundation President, Alain LeFebvre.

He says the campaign will help the foundation support different initiatives throughout the Foundation’s 25th year in Prince George.

“The campaign is not only going to benefit the community for the long term but will also help support other initiatives throughout the year,” added LeFebvre.

The organization was given $150,000 to launch the campaign from Rio Tinto, a mining and metals corporation with a location in PG.

“Not only have community organizations large and small benefited from the Prince George Foundation grant program but community foundations such as Kitimat, Terrace, Burns Lake and Vanderhoof can reach out to the Prince George Foundation for guidance, support and regional partnerships that benefit us all,” said Affonso Bizon, general manager Rio Tinto BC Works.

Donations to the campaign can be made on the Prince George Community Foundation website.
