Motor vehicle accident on Highway 16 West turns fatal

A single-vehicle crash on Highway 16 near Prince George has claimed a life.

According to the RCMP, it happened just after 9 am this morning (Friday) when a pickup truck left the highway and rolled coming to rest on its roof.

The man could not be revived by paramedics and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cpl. Craig Douglass spoke with MyPGNow.com

“The BC Coroners Service attended the scene and is conducting a parallel fact-finding investigation to determine who this person was and how they led to their death.”

The identity of the deceased will not be made public.

Highway 16 west was initially closed in both directions but was opened to alternating traffic for about two hours while emergency crews worked on scene.

Prince George RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass has confirmed there was a fatality involved in the incident.

Traffic on Highway 16 near Prince George is single-lane alternating following a motor vehicle incident this morning (Friday) according to Drive BC.

It is between Hooper Road and Carmel Drive.

Drivers can expect delays.
