Coastal Gaslink is now requiring employees to take COVID-19 tests before starting work at their designated work sites.
“Implementation of asymptomatic testing for our workers will add another layer of protection for our workforce, their families, and local communities,” said Mike Gibb, Coastal GasLink’s Director of Health, Safety and Security.
Testing is just one of the enhancements made to the Coastal Gaslink COVID-19 Management Plan.
CGL has also adopted the Northern Facility Lead Outbreak system, which was designed to assist Northern Health facilities prepare, detect and respond to COVID-19 cases and outbreaks.
“Testing is an important part of our overall COVID-19 Management Plan,” said Gibb, “together with other measures, like mandatory mask use, they provide us with a comprehensive approach to minimize the spread of the virus, and help protect our workers return safely to work.”
The enhanced plan also includes measures restricting worker travel to local communities and between work sites.
Five Northern projects will be impacted by the plan, while CGL will also work with local communities and businesses to provide workers access to local products and services.
The company started rolling out testing at lodges on February 22nd.
