WHL: (BC Division)

The Prince George Cougars play the Vancouver Giants again tonight at 7:00 in Kamloops. The (2-2-1-1) Cougars beat the (5-2) Giants 6-3 on Saturday night. Jonny Hooker notched a goal and three assists. Tyler Brennan made 26 saves in his final game of the WHL season for the Cougars. Brennan will join Canada’s U18 team at the IIHF World Championship that begins April 26th in Frisco and Plano, Texas.

In the WHL Sunday, Kamloops beat Victoria 4-3 in Kelowna.

The (3-2) Prince George Spruce Kings battle the Chilliwack Chiefs tonight at 5:00 in Chilliwack. The Spruce Kings are coming off Saturday’s 2-0 victory over the Merritt Centennials. (The Chiefs beat the Spruce Kings 1-0 on Friday)

NHL: 

The Vancouver Canucks have traded Adam Gaudette to the Chicago Blackhawks for Matthew Highmore.

The Buffalo Sabres have dealt Taylor Hall and Curtis Lazar to the Boston Bruins in return for Anders Bjork and a second-round draft pick.

The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired Nick Foligno from the Columbus Blue Jackets for a first-round pick in 2021 and a fourth-round pick in 2022. Forward Stefan Noesen was also part of the deal.

The NHL trading deadline was noon today (PT).

(North Division)

There were 7 Sunday games in the NHL but none that involved Canadian teams. There are 8 more NHL games tonight including Toronto at Montreal and Winnipeg at Ottawa.

The Vancouver Canucks are scheduled to play their next game on Friday when they host the Edmonton Oilers. This will start a string of 19 games in 31 nights for Vancouver. The Canucks last played on March 24th.

Masters:

Hideki Matsuyama, at 10-under-278,  scored a one-stroke victory over Will Zalatoris to capture his first Masters. He is the first men’s player from Japan to win a major. Canadian Corey Conners tied for 8th, six shots back at 4-under.

Curling:

Sweden won the World Men’s Curling Championship in Calgary, defeating Scotland 10-5 in the final. Canada’s
Brendan Bottcher finished out of the medals after losing 5-3 to Scotland Friday night.
