(The Lightning repeat as Stanley Cup champions by winning the series 4-1. Rookie Ross Colton scored the only goal at 13:27 of the second period and playoff MVP Andrei Vasilevskiy got the shutout as Tampa outshot Montreal 30-22. Lightning head coach Jon Cooper of Prince George captured his second straight Stanley Cup. “It’s like we won two completely different Stanley Cups, and that’s what makes it extremely special for us,” Cooper said. “You do one without fans and then you do one in your own building: We couldn’t have written the script any better.”

A Canadian has reached the men’s semifinals at Wimbledon. Denis Shapovalov will play top-seed Novak Djokovic on Friday with the winner to advance to Sunday’s final.

 

Soccer

England beat Denmark 2-1 in extra time to advance to soccer’s European Championship. England will return to its home at Wembley Stadium on Sunday to play Italy in the final.
