MLB:

(The (46-42) Blue Jays host the Rangers again this afternoon (Saturday) and Sunday)

The Blue Jays have announced they will play their first game back in Toronto on July 30th. Club officials say they were granted a National Interest Exemption by the federal government paving the way for them to return home after nearly two years away because of border restrictions put in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The team played home games during the shortened 2020 season in Buffalo. They began this season in Dunedin, Florida before coming back to Buffalo.

Golf:

South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen has a two-shot lead entering the third round at The Open which is taking place at Royal St. George’s. He has a 36-hole total of 11-under-129. Collin Morikawa is in second place at 9-under followed by Jordan Spieth at 8-under and Dustin Johnson at 7-under. Top Canadian Mackenzie Hughes is tied for 12th at 5-under, six shots off the pace.

NBA:

After a two-day break, the NBA Finals resume tonight (Saturday) in Phoenix (with tip-off just after 6:00 PT). The Suns and Milwaukee Bucks are tied 2-2 with the home team winning each game.

Olympics:

Canada will send a team of 371 athletes to the Tokyo Olympics.

It’s the country’s largest Olympic contingent since the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Games.

The Canadian Olympic Committee says 225 members of the team will be athletes who identify as women and 146 who identify as men.

Among the female athletes: track star Regan Yee of Hazelton who will compete in the 3000 Metre Steeplechase and Kayla Moleschi of Williams Lake who is part of the women’s rugby team.

The Tokyo Olympics begin on Friday (July 23) and run through to August 8th.
