Lansdowne residents hope erosion concerns don’t fall away

A group of residents on Lansdowne Road are hoping an issue their seeing doesn’t fall off the cliff.

At Monday night’s city council meeting, five property owners in the area submitted a report to council about how erosion along the Fraser River could possibly affect their homes.

A study commissioned by the group shows that the area is eroding on average 7 inches a year.

Area Resident Tom Wilkinson says they are wanting to put this on council’s radar.

“But the thing is you got to get into the process and have the city pick up the ball because the money that’s available for these projects is only available through local government,” says Wilkinson, “not groups or private individuals, its got to be done through local government, so that’s the process.”

Council has referred the residents request to staff who will come back with a possible solution to the issue.
