The UNBC Timberwolves will hand out individual awards during their year-end banquet on Friday. Two players have been nominated for each of the four department awards – female rookie of the year, male rookie of the year, female athlete of the year, and male athlete of the year.

–The Kelowna Rockets doubled the Victoria Royals 4-2 to take a 3-0 lead in their best of seven WHL Western Conference semi-final series. The Rockets go for a sweep tonight in Victoria. Kelowna is 7-0 in the playoffs.

–The Regina Pats nipped the Brandon Wheat Kings 3-2 to cut Brandon’s lead to 2-1 in their second round series. Game four will be played tonight in Regina.

–The Penticton Vees outscored the Nanaimo Clippers 8-5 to even the BCHL best of 7 Fred Page Cup final at 2-2. Game five will go Thursday in Penticton with game six Friday in Nanaimo. A 7th game, if needed, is scheduled for Sunday in Penticton. The visiting team has won each game.

–13 Prince George Special Olympic swimmers racked up a total of 21 first place performances at the BC Special Olympics swim meet in Kelowna. PG results are listed below:

Sam Russell: 2 firsts, 1 second, 1 third
Josh Pudney: 2 firsts, 1 second
Brian Whitfield: 1 first, 4 seconds.

Carla Caputo: 1 first, 2 seconds, 1 third
Marinka VanHage: 1 first, 2 seconds
Diana Bramble: 1 first, 1 second, 2 thirds

Amy Louro: 3 seconds, 1 third
Amanda Glazier: 1 second, 4 thirds

–David Dunn is among 4 Special Olympics BC swim athletes that will compete at the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games August 7-16 in Wood Buffalo, Alberta.

Earlier, Dunn represented BC at the 2014 Special Olympics Canada, national games in Vancouver and at the 2013 Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke Quebec.

–The Prince George Tennis Club has its annual general meeting this evening (Wednesday) at 7 at the PG Golf and Curling Club.
