Council to address safety concerns if new park comes through

Working together with stakeholders will have to happen if a new park will be coming to the downtown.

At last night’s meeting safety was an issue that was brought up numerous times as council heard about the proposed City Centre Plaza park.

Councillor Terri McConnachie says there needs to be conversations before hand on how to make the park safe.

“First off that means working together with the RCMP,” says McConnachie, “working with our community, all the stakeholders, which include the RCMP.”

McConnachie says just because the park could pose safety risks doesn’t mean the idea shouldn’t go ahead.

Council will make a decision in the near future about whether or not to approve the park’s next to the Wood Innovation and Design Centre.
