Four PG Cougars catch the eye of NHL scouts

The 2022 NHL Draft isn’t until July and already, a number of Prince George Cougars find themselves on the radar of Central Scouting.

Today (Tuesday), the preliminary watch list came out for draft-eligible prospects across Canada including 45 players from the WHL.

Among those, Cougars netminder Tyler Brennan, defenceman Keaton Dowhaniuk and Viliam Kmec and forward Kyren Gronick all made the cut.

Brennan was given a “B” rating, meaning he is projected to be taken in the second or third round of this summer’s draft.

Gronick, Dowhaniuk and Kmec are labelled as “C” grade prospects with the possibility of being drafted in rounds four through six.

Three WHL players earned ‘A’ ratings: Winnipeg ICE forwards Conor Geekie and Matt Savoie, and Moose Jaw Warriors defenceman Denton Mateychuk.

The draft will be held on July 7th and 8th in Montreal.
