The Canucks gave up three power-play goals in suffering their 5th straight loss. Vancouver’s penalty kill has surrendered 19 goals in the last 10 games and has the NHL’s worst-functioning unit at 60.3 %.  The (5-10-2) Canucks host Winnipeg Friday at 7 p.m. and Chicago Sunday at 5:00.

BCHL:

The (9-6) Prince George Spruce Kings will not be traveling this weekend.

The BCHL has postponed the Spruce Kings games that were scheduled for Friday in Surrey and Saturday in Merritt due to the floods and closures of highways in British Columbia.

WHL: 

The (6-9) Prince George Cougars host the (3-7-2) Tri-City Americans Friday and Saturday.

The Cougars are 1-3 on a six-game homestand.

After this weekend, the Cats will play their following six games on the road.

BC Elite Hockey League: (Cariboo Cougars U18 AAA & Northern Capitals Female U18 AAA)

Fraser Valley Rush  3  Northern Capitals  2  (Wednesday in Langley)

The (12-5-0-2) Capitals are in first place in the Female U-18 AAA division, four points ahead of the (11-1) Rush, however, Fraser Valley has seven games in hand.

The Prince George-based Capitals will not play another league game until January 7th.

The U-18 Cariboo Cougars home games this weekend against the (10-2-1-1) Vancouver NE Chiefs have been postponed due to the travel conditions.

Make-up dates have not yet been announced.

NFL: (Week 11)

Week 11 of the NFL season starts tonight with (6-4) New England at (4-5) Atlanta. The Patriots are riding a 4-game winning streak.

CFL: (Week 16)

The (4-9) B.C. Lions host the (3-10) Edmonton Elks Friday night at 7:30 in the final game of the season for both teams.

The Lions have lost seven in a row.

In other action this weekend: Ottawa visits Montreal Friday (4:30 PT), Saskatchewan is at Hamilton Saturday (1:00) and Winnipeg plays at Calgary Saturday (4:00) to conclude the regular season.
