That’s the message for the sixth annual Plaid Friday held today (Friday) in Prince George.

This also marks the unofficial start to the Holiday shopping season in the northern capital.

Downtown PG Executive Director, Colleen Van Mook told MyPGNow.com the whole idea originated in Oakland, California.

“Plaid Friday is sort of taking the notion that its various threads are weaved together making a strong fabric. I think with our small businesses downtown, we have such diversity and creativity and they come together to make really interesting eating and shopping opportunity.”

Van Mook believes the day is a good reminder to residents that many of the shops are unique and run by local people who have a passion for what they do.

In addition, people can look for some extra fun between 4pm and 6pm.

During that time if you get caught by the PLAID PATROL wearing plaid or using one of the special Downtown PG shopping bags you may find yourself with some cool plaid swag
or some awesome LOVEBUCKS to spend at your favourite downtown business.

While you are supporting our downtown you can enjoy some festive music and enter to win one of our unique Plaid Friday Gift Baskets.
