The (10-15-2) Canucks are 2-0 since Bruce Boudreau took over as head coach.

Vancouver is 2-1 on a 6-game homestand that will continue Friday night at 7:00 against the Winnipeg Jets.

WHL:

The Prince George Cougars made two picks in the 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft Wednesday, selecting defenceman Yoonho (Roy) Chung, 4th overall, and forward Nick McLennan, 41st overall.

Chung, who is a U.S. – South Korean dual citizen, was chosen from the LA Jr. Kings 15’s program in California. The 6’0,” 161-pound Chung is second in team scoring with 29 points (6g-23a) in 34 games.

McLennan is originally from Edmonton but now calls Anchorage, AK home. The 5’9,” 175-pound McLennan plays for Team Alaska 15U AAA. Last season, with Team Alaska’s 14U AAA program, McLennan put up 21 points (12g-9a) in 32 games.

The (8-14) Prince George Cougars visit the (11-7-0-3) Kelowna Rockets Friday before hosting the (18-4) Kamloops Blazers in the Teddy Bear Toss game on Saturday.

This season the Cougars are 0-4 against the Rockets and 0-3 against the Blazers.

Prince George is 7th in the Western Conference standings, but only a point ahead of both Spokane and Victoria and three in front of last place Tri-City.

The (11-7) Prince George Spruce Kings host the (10-8-1) Cranbrook Bucks in a triple-header.

BC Elite Hockey League: (AAA)

In a change of schedule, the (U-18) Cariboo Cougars visit the (6-7-1-2) Okanagan Rockets in Rutland Saturday (6:45 p.m.) and Sunday (10:00 a.m.) in their final league games until the new year.

The (9-7-1-1) Cougars are in 5th place in the 10-team league and they are riding a 4-game win streak, all against the Thompson Blazers.

The (8-7-0-1) U17 Cariboo Cougars will host the first-place (10-5-1) Okanagan Rockets Saturday night at 5:00 and Sunday morning at 11:00 at Kin 1.

 

NFL:

Week 14 of the NFL season begins tonight (5:20 PT) with (6-5-1) Pittsburgh at (5-7) Minnesota.

With five weeks left in the regular season, Arizona at 10-2 has the best record in the league, including 7-0 on the road.

Green Bay and Tampa Bay are next in the NFC at 9-3.

The 9-4 New England Patriots have won seven straight and have the best record in the AFC.

They are followed by Baltimore, Tennessee, and Kansas City, who are all 8-4.

CFL:

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Hamilton Tiger-Cats are gearing up to meet in the 108th Grey Cup game Sunday (3:00 p.m. PT) in Hamilton.

It is a rematch of the 2019 championship game.

There was no Grey Cup last year due to the pandemic.

Winnipeg beat Hamilton 33-12 in the 2019 Grey Cup as the Blue Bombers ended a 28-season championship drought.

Canada West basketball:

The Christmas break has arrived for the UNBC Timberwolves in Canada West Basketball.

The Timberwolves do not have another league game until Friday, January 14th when they host the Victoria Vikes.

The UNBC women are 4-4 on the season while the men are 2-6.

Victoria is 4-4 in the women’s division and 7-1 in the men’s standings.
