BCHL’s 60th Anniversary event postponed to 2023

The BCHL’s 60th Anniversary Event will have to wait until next year.

The League announced the event has been postponed to January 2023 due to increased provincial restrictions around events, and an increase in COVID-19 cases around the province.

The event was set for January 14th to 16th in Penticton, and would have included an outdoor 3-on-3 All Star Series, skills competition, alumni game, and a Top Prospects Game.

An outdoor game was also set to be a Save Pond Hockey event in partnership with the Climate and Sport Initiative.

“We are disappointed for our loyal fans that were planning on attending the event, but we feel the worst for the 50 players who were  set to participate in the weekend’s festivities,” said BCHL Commissioner Chris Hebb.

“We are grateful to all our event and league partners who supported us and are eager to work with them again next year to make the event even bigger and better.”

Forwards John Herrington, Simon Labelle, and Nick Rheaume of the Prince George Spruce Kings were selected to play in the Top Prospects game.

Next year’s event will also be held in Penticton.
