WHL:

Prince George Cougars  4  Victoria Royals  1  (Wednesday)

Koehn Ziemmer scored two goals, just over four minutes apart in the first period, to lead the Cougars to their fourth straight victory, before 1.426 fans at CN Centre.

In those four games, Ziemmer has nine points, including seven goals.

The 17-year-old Ziemmer has scored in each of his last seven home games.

Ty Young made 22 saves as Prince George outshot Victoria 35-23.

The Cougars are 7-0 this season against the Royals.

The (17-17-1-1) Cougars are 3rd in the B.C. Division and 6th in the Western Conference, four points ahead of the
(15-17-2-0) Vancouver Giants.

Prince George will host the B.C. Division-leading Kamloops Blazers on Friday in the first of a home and home.

They also meet Saturday in Kamloops.

The Spruce Kings scored three goals in each of the last two periods before 617 fans at the RMCA.

The (18-9-2-1) Spruce Kings have won four straight and will play their next three games against the (13-13-1-1) Smoke Eaters Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night in Trail.

BC Elite Hockey League: (AAA)

The U-18 Cariboo Cougars and the female Northern Capitals play league games this weekend in Fort St James.

The (11-10-1-2) Cougars host the (12-8-3-1) Fraser Valley Thunderbirds Saturday night at 6:30 outdoors at the Ernie Sam Memorial Arena.

The two teams also face off Sunday afternoon at 12:30 indoors at the Fort Forum.

The Capitals entertain the Fraser Valley Rush Saturday afternoon at 1 in Vanderhoof and Sunday morning at 10 outdoors in Fort St James.

The UNBC Timberwolves visit the UBC Okanagan Heat in Kelowna this weekend in Canada West women’s and men’s basketball.

Games times are Friday night at 5:00 and 7:00 and Saturday at 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. starting with the women followed by the men.

The UNBC women are 4-5 on the season while UBC Okanagan women are 5-6.

The UNBC men are 2-7 while the UBC Okanagan men are 1-7.
