Prince George Spruce Kings  2  Trail Smoke Eaters  1  (Sunday)

The Spruce Kings took four out of a possible six points in their weekend triple-header in Trail.

The (19-9-2-3) Spruce Kings host the Vernon Vipers Friday and Saturday.

Prince George is third out of nine in the Interior Division, three points behind the Penticton Vees and one point ahead of the West Kelowna Warriors.

Kamloops Blazers  3  Prince George Cougars  2  (Saturday)

The Cougars led 2-1 until the (24-11-1) Blazers scored a pair of goals, 38 seconds apart early in the third period.

Ty Young made 45 saves as Kamloops outshot Prince George 48-25.

The (17-19-1-1) Cougars play their next six games in the U.S. starting Friday against Taylor Gauthier and the Portland Winterhawks.

Prince George is 3rd in the B.C. Division and 6th in the Western Conference, two points ahead of the (16-17-2) Vancouver Giants.

The Blazers built up period leads of 2-0 and 4-1 as they ended the Cougars’ four-game win streak before 1,847 fans at CN Centre.

Fraser Valley Thunderbirds  10  Cariboo Cougars 6  (Sunday indoors in Fort St. James)

Fraser Valley improved to 14-8-3-1 and is fourth in the 10-team division.

The (11-11-1-3) Cougars are 5th and are scheduled to be in North Vancouver this coming Saturday and Sunday for games against the third-place Vancouver Northwest Hawks (17-5-1-1).

The game was supposed to be held outside at the Ernie Sam Memorial Arena as part of Winter Classic weekend. Unfortunately, warming temperatures made the ice surface unplayable and the contest had to be moved indoors to the Fort Forum.

The (15-6-0-3) Capitals are in second place, six points behind the (19-2-1) Rush.

The next scheduled games for the Caps are Feb. 5-6 in Chemainus against the (7-13-0-1) Vancouver Island Seals.
