The (18-19-5) Vancouver Canucks start a four-game road trip tonight at 5:00 (PT) against the (17-15-7) Jets in Winnipeg.

Vancouver is 10-4-3 since Bruce Boudreau took over as coach.

The Canucks have hired Pittsburgh Penguins assistant general manager Patrik Allvin as their new general manager.

The 47-year-old Allvin worked with Jim Rutherford, the Canucks’ president of hockey operations, for six seasons in Pittsburgh.

The (17-19-1-1) Prince George Cougars play their next six games in the U.S. starting Friday against Taylor Gauthier and the (22-11-3-2) Portland Winterhawks.

Prince George is 3rd in the B.C. Division and 6th in the Western Conference, two points ahead of the (16-18-2) Vancouver Giants.

The Giants lost 2-1 to Kamloops Wednesday night.

The (19-9-2-3) Prince George Spruce Kings host the (11-14-3-3) Vernon Vipers Friday and Saturday.

The Spruce Kings are third out of nine in the Interior Division, three points behind the Penticton Vees and one point ahead of the West Kelowna Warriors.

(U18 Male)

The Cariboo Cougars visit the Vancouver Northwest Hawks Saturday night at 7:45 and Sunday morning at 11:30 at the North Shore Winter Club.

The (11-11-1-3) Cougars are 5th out of 10 teams while the (17-5-1-1) Hawks are in 3rd place.

The Northern Capitals are idle until Feb. 4th when they visit the (2-19-1) Greater Vancouver Comets in Richmond.

The (15-6-0-3) Caps also visit the (7-13-0-1) Vancouver Island Seals on Feb. 5th and 6th in Chemainus.

Canada West basketball:

The Canada West women’s basketball games scheduled for this weekend in Prince George between the UNBC Timberwolves and the Fraser Valley Cascades have been postponed.

The reason is that both teams do not have the minimum number of players available to safely compete due to COVID-19 related protocols.

The men’s basketball games between UNBC and Fraser Valley will go ahead at the Northern Sport Centre but the time has changed.

Tip-off is now slated for 6:00 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

The UNBC men are 4-7 on the season while the Fraser Valley men are 5-4.

(The UNBC women are 5-6 while the Fraser Valley women are 9-2)
