Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire in the 2500 block of Vanier Drive last night (Wednesday) around 10:00.
Fire crews found smoke coming from the roofline and eaves of a house.
They also found fire in the basement suite kitchen area extending up into the floor joists above.
A team of 20 firefighters quickly prevented the fire from extending throughout the rest of the home.

Damage is estimated at approximately $35,000.
There were no reported injuries and the cause is not considered suspicious.
Fire Rescue is reminding the public to use caution while cooking with oil.
