A large fire in the Mapes Road area near Vanderhoof has completely destroyed a home.
Vanderhoof RCMP say the fire started late yesterday afternoon int he 11 thousand block of Mapes Road.
Along with the Forest Service, this witness says neighbours helped put the fire out.
“All the neighbours got together to control it because there was no fire department coming out there. So we had people with buckets, and shovels; and then we had a CAT coming out. There were two police cars to hold traffic because of the hydro.”
Police say the cause is believed to be associated with a wood stove.
There were no injuries.
