Cougars sign goaltender Madden Mulawka

Another young goaltender has been added to the mix by the Prince George Cougars.

The WHL club signed Madden Mulawka to a player agreement today (Tuesday).

The 16-year-old played for the Maple Leaf Athletic Club Beverly Optimists in the Alberta Elite Hockey League’s U18 AAA Division this season.

In 22 games, he posted a 16-14-1 (W-L-T) record, with a 3.50 goals-against average (GAA) and .898 save percentage (SV%).

In addition, Mulawka suited up for three games with the Blackfalds Bulldogs in the Alberta Junior Hockey League this season, picking up two wins.

“Madden had a very strong year with MLAC, Team Alberta, and with Blackfalds in the AJHL. Simply put, he makes saves and gives his team a chance to win every night. His signing really solidifies our goaltending depth. We’re excited to welcome Madden and his family to the organization,” said Cougars’ Director of Scouting, Bob Simmonds.

For Team Alberta at the 2021 WHL Cup in Red Deer, he posted a 2-1 record and a 1.67 GAA and .935 SV% to help capture a silver medal.

Mulawka was the Cougars’ fifth-round pick, 100th overall, in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.
