Prince George welcoming families from Ukraine

The first seven families are set to arrive in Prince George from Ukraine.

According to PG for Ukraine, some are already here, and others are on their way within the next week.

“We have been working with seven different families that are assisting Ukrainian individuals and families to come to Prince George to ride out the storm, as it were. Three different Ukrainian groups have arrived so far, and four are expected within the week,” said Charles Scott with PG for Ukraine.

This is in addition to the more than 16,500 Ukrainians who have arrived in Canada, and over 46,000 Ukrainians who have the green light to come here.

Canada has agreed to take as many Ukrainians as needed.

Prince George is being advertised as one of the seven places to go in BC on the province’s website.

A website has also been set up to let people know how they can help, as well as give information to Ukrainians about our community.

“Two things that happens with PG for Ukraine are: we give people the information about how they can help, and for those that are looking to connect with people who are coming here, we help to coordinate them with the services.”

31 people have volunteered to accommodate Ukrainians in PG.

A video is also being put together to describe what life is like in the Northern Capital.
