Theatre NorthWest’s (TNW) next production will be a Shakespeare play with a twist.
Coming up next month, TNW will be supporting a group of local artists as they produce ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Northern Lights Estate Winery.
“Theatre on location is something we have wanted to do for a long time,” said TNW Artistic Producer Marnie Hamagami.
“It’s complicated for us for a variety of reason, so we are thrilled to have the opportunity to support local artists.”
The production is being adapted and directed by Melissa Glover, who is putting a twist on Shakespeare’s play.
“I am setting the piece in 1950’s Athens, Georgia,” Glover said.
“I wanted to do something fun, while still honouring the original story.”
Glover added the production will still feature Shakespeare’s prose.
