Climb for Cancer ascending to fundraising goal

The annual Climb for Cancer event is coming up near the end of the month.

Each year, people gather at the base of the cutbanks and climb to help raise money for cancer in Prince George.

This year, the event is on May 29th.

“It’s really nice that we were able to bring the event back to the Spring, where it originally started, and doing it in May gives us an opportunity for better weather,” said Planning Committee Chair Doug Bell.

“The event is rain or shine, and actually it’s a ton of fun, and even easier to climb the cutbanks if it does rain.”

This year the goal is to raise $60,000, so far, $13,547.50 has been raised. (As of 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 21st.)

“We’ve been doing very, well our sponsors from previous years are incredibly generous, and have all come back on board,” Bell said.

“We have a lot of other incredible things going on, we have the Exploration Place, which is going to have activities for kids and families, we have live music, we got food trucks, we have vendors.”
