Theatre NorthWest bringing upcycling classes to sewing camps

Theatre NorthWest’s sewing camps are making their return for the summer, including a new class.

Marnie Hamagami, Artistic Producer at Theatre NorthWest says they’ve done a bit of a reboot on their camps, and are including an ‘upcycling camp’.

“There’s a lot of videos and clips going around about how turn a t-shirt into a dress, or how to add embellishments and flourishes to an old t-shirt to freshen it up, or to turn clothing into a memory pillow,” Hamagami said.

Hamagami added the upcycling class is just one of the ones they are offering, and will also be hosting camps for different skill levels.

“Those are not age-based, so if you’re a good sewer and you’re ten-years-old, you can enter the advanced camp no problem,” she said.

Theatre NorthWest was able to keep their camps going during the pandemic, but they were limited in the number of people they could have participating.
