Cats sign hulking prospect Leith Hunter to agreement

A towering blueliner is joining the Prince George Cougars.

Today (Monday), the WHL club signed Leith Hunter to a Standard Player Agreement.

He was the 50th overall selection in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft.

“Leith is just scratching the surface in his overall development. Every time we have seen Leith
play this past season, something new in his game was seen,” said Cougars Director of Scouting,
Bob Simmonds.

“With Leith’s size and skill set, he has the potential to be a dominant force on our
back end. He is very coachable and really the sky is the limit for this young man. We are very
pleased to welcome Leith and his family to the Cougars organization.”

The 6’6 defenceman spent the 2021-22 season with the U15 Vancouver North West Hawks of the BC Elite Hockey League (BCEHL).

Hunter finished with 35 points (9G- 26A) in just 29 regular-season games.

In the post-season, he added 11 points helping his club capture 2022 BCEHL U15 championship.
