Downtown PG applauds healthy turnout during summer clean-up day

A summer clean-up day was dedicated to PG’s downtown core.

The initiative was conducted on Friday, by the Downtown PG and other members of the Community Safety Hub, which comprises of agencies such as the City of PG Outreach and the local branch of the BC Schizophrenia Society.

Executive Director, Colleen Van Mook told MyPGNow.com it was a great turnout with over 70 people showing up.

“It was really nice to see everyone pitching in wanting to clean up the downtown and really even creating some newer relationships coming together to do something positive in our downtown.”

Van Mook added this was the first time an event like this was held in the downtown core.

“We said, let’s do this, let’s take this opportunity to have a day where we come together and share our support and make downtown a little cleaner and a little brighter.”

“Really, we are noticing that there is a lot more happening and there was a chance to remind everybody downtown is here and we have such a diverse population that is a part of our downtown.”

All participants were treated to a complimentary lunch prepared by the White Goose Bistro and served at Wood Innovation Square from their new shiny food truck.

In April, a community clean up was held in PG at the end of April.
