Cariboo-North East finishes with 33 BC Summer Games medals

The medals have been awarded for the BC Summer Games in Prince George.

Cariboo-North East (Zone 8) finished sixth in the medal count, with 10 gold, 10 silver, and 13 bronze.

Josiah Wilkinson of PG contributed four medals to the Zone in triathlon, with three golds (Boys 16-17 Sprint Triathlon, F1 Triathlon, Auquathlon) and one silver (Duathlon).

Boroka Peter won bronze in the girls 16-17 F1 Triathlon.

Gabby Hoehn took bronze (31:10.5) in the Girls 15 years Duathlon, while Ewan Hawes took bronze (26:20.2)  in the Boys event.

Kimberly Huggett and Sienna Veeken of PG nabbed a few medals in Artistic swimming. Huggett took bronze in 16-17 Figures, and silver in Solo. Veeken  took the bronze in Solo. The pair also got bronze in Duet.

Kionae Roberts of PG  took bronze in both the Girls 200m and 300m races in Athletics.

Prince George took both gold and silver in the Female C-2 1000m Open in Canoe/Kayak. Jessica Fowlie/Micah Gordon took gold, while Chloe Bialuski/Yujin Roh took silver.

The Zone 8 Girls Rugby team took bronze.

The team was comprised of Carmen Aubichon (Prince George), Joey Augustine (Horsefly), Adrienne Brommit (Williams Lake), Shailynn Brommit (Williams Lake), Kalli Campbell (Williams Lake), Hailey-Anne Dunbar (Williams Lake), Hailey Dutchak (Fort St. John), Gabrielle Knox (Williams Lake), Floria Meili (Lone Butte), Maya Notwotny (Williams Lake), Joelle Thurow (Williams Lake), and Shayne Turner (Fort St. John).

Cariboo-North East cleaned up in Towed Water Sports with eight medals. Jake Burkheim of Prince George pulled one gold (Boys 10-13 Wakeboard) and two silvers (Wakesurf and Wakeskate).

Vancouver-Island-Central Coast finished on top of the medal count with 133.
