BC Football Conference:

The Prince George Kodiaks lost their B.C. Football Conference home opener 35-20 Saturday night to the Kamloops Broncos at Masich Place Stadium.

The (0-2) Kodiaks visit the (2-1) Valley Huskers Saturday night at 7:00 in Chilliwack before hosting the Huskers on Saturday, August 20th.

Prince George lost its first-ever league game 31-5 to the Huskers on July 23rd in Chilliwack.

CFL:

The (6-1) B.C. Lions have the second-best record in the CFL behind the (9-0) Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Lions blitzed the Edmonton Elks 46-14 Saturday before just 16,342 fans in Vancouver.

B.C. quarterback Nathan Rourke was at his best completing 34 of 37 passes for 477 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Week 10 starts Thursday (5:30 PT) with (2-6) Montreal at Winnipeg.

The Lions visit the (5-2) Calgary Stampeders Saturday (4 p.m. PT).

The Canadian team went 5-0 in the tournament, outscoring the opposition by a combined score of 34-3.

Riley Heidt of the PG Cougars picked up a pair of assists in the final to give him a total of three goals and three assists in the five games.

The World Junior Hockey Championship begins Tuesday in Edmonton although Canada does not play its first game until Wednesday (3 PM PT) against Latvia.

10 of the 25 players on the Canadian team are from the WHL.

The tournament runs until August 20th.

Toronto Blue Jays  3  Minnesota Twins  2  (10 innings)

The Jays are 3-3 on a 9-game road trip that continues tonight (4:05 PT Monday) against the (56-52) Orioles in Baltimore.

The (60-48) Jays are 2nd in the A.L. East and leading the Wild Card Standings.

The Orioles are two games out of a wild-card spot and four games back of the Jays.
