MLB:

Baltimore Orioles  7  Toronto Blue Jays  4

The Jays are 3-4 on a 9-game road trip that continues tonight (4:05 PT Tuesday) against the (57-52) Orioles in Baltimore.

The (60-49) Jays are 2nd in the A.L. East and leading the Wild Card Standings.

The Orioles are three games back of the Jays.

Hockey:

Canada beat Sweden 4-3 in an exhibition game Monday prior to the World Junior Hockey Championship in Edmonton.

The 10-team tournament opens today (Tuesday) with three games but Canada does not play its first game until Wednesday (3 PM PT) against Latvia.

10 of the 25 players on the Canadian team are from the WHL.

The tournament runs until August 20th.

Riley Heidt of the PG Cougars had two assists for Canada in a 4-1 victory over Sweden Saturday in the Gold Medal Game at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Red Deer.

The Canadian team went 5-0 in the tournament, outscoring the opposition by a combined score of 34-3.

Heidt notched three goals and three assists in the five games.

The Prince George Cougars traded 19-year-old forward Craig Armstrong to the Red Deer Rebels for three draft picks, including a 2nd rounder next year.

BC Football Conference:

The (0-2) Prince George Kodiaks visit the (2-1) Valley Huskers Saturday night at 7:00 in Chilliwack in the B.C. Football Conference.

The same two teams will also play on Saturday, August 20th in Prince George at Masich Place Stadium.

The Kodiaks are coming off a 35-20 loss to the Kamloops Broncos in their home opener.

Prince George lost its first-ever league game 31-5 to the Huskers on July 23rd in Chilliwack.

CFL:

The (6-1) B.C. Lions visit the (5-2) Calgary Stampeders Saturday (4 p.m. PT).

The Lions have only played two of their seven games on the road.
