Hockey:

Canada is 3-0 and will play Finland today (Monday 3:00 PT) in its final round-robin game at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Edmonton.

The Canadian team is coming off Saturday’s 5-1 victory over the Czech Republic.

Finland whipped Slovakia 9-3 Sunday to win for the third time in as many games.

The quarterfinals of the 10-team tournament will be played Wednesday followed by the semis on Friday and the medal games on Saturday.

BC Football Conference: (Saturday, August 13th in Chilliwack)

Valley Huskers  34  Prince George Kodiaks  17

The (3-1) Huskers and the (0-3) Kodiaks play again Saturday night at 7:00 in Prince George at Masich Place Stadium.

(The Kodiaks lost to the Huskers 31-5 on July 23rd in Chilliwack before dropping their home opener Saturday, August 6th 35-20 to the Kamloops Broncos)

CFL:

The B.C. Lions are 7-1 after that Saturday come-from-behind 41-40 victory over the Stampeders in Calgary.

Lions QB Nathan Rourke had another big game completing 39 of 52 passes for 488 yards and two touchdowns to go along with two interceptions.

Rourke also rushed for a couple of TD’s.

The Lions start Week 11 with a game Friday night at 7:00 (PT) in Regina against the (5-4) Roughriders.

The (9-1) Winnipeg Blue Bombers are off this week.

MLB:

Cleveland Guardians  7  Toronto Blue Jays  2

The (61-52) Jays, who have lost four of their last five, host the (59-55) Baltimore Orioles tonight (Monday 4:07 PT).

Toronto leads the A.L. Wild Card Standings, but the race is so close that six teams are within just two games.
