Plaid is the fad today in downtown PG

Prince George will be looking extra Canadian today (Friday).

Downtown PG is encouraging people to head out dressed in plaid for some special deals at many participating local shops and restaurants for this year’s annual Plaid Friday.

“Many of our businesses are getting behind the notion of providing specials, or discounts, or fun ways to get you to wear plaid,” said Colleen Van Mook, the Executive Director of Downtown Prince George.

The event runs all day, but she adds from 4-6:00 pm there will be extra chances to win some merch and “lovebucks,” which can be spent at downtown businesses.

Other groups in town are getting in the Plaid Friday spirit.

In addition, the United Way will kick off its fourth annual Tree of Lights Campaign at Wood Innovation Square this afternoon.

“It is neat that everyone wants to get behind this Plaid Friday,” Van Mook said.
