DUAL CREDIT PROGRAM COMING TO UNBC

UNBC has unveiled their Dual Credit Program, which kicks off in September.

Registrar, Troy Hanschen says it’s a win win situation for the school.

“from the university’s perspective I see it has recruitment initiative, it’s going to get students engaged in post-secondary academic career a year earlier and I also see it as a great retention initiative”

Hanschen adds students can use the credit twice.

“the great thing about dual credit that is set up with the Ministry of Education is that students can count those credits twice so the courses can be used toward high school graduation as elective credit and then they can eventually be used towards any university degree out there”

The program is open to grade 12 students in Prince George and is a joint venture with School District 57.

The school district will pay for tuition while UNBC will cover student fees.

The only cost to the students would be their books and supplies.
