194 players, including Prince George Cougars prospects Justin Almeida and Max Martin plus Cougars defenceman Josh Anderson have been invited to the inaugural National Teams’ Summer Showcase in Calgary (July 29-Aug 6).

Almeida and Martin will attend the U-17 camp while Anderson is among 43 players with the U-18. Almeida (photo above) played last season with the Cariboo Cougars. He is expected to land a spot this season as a 16-year-old with the PG Cougars.

–The Prince George Cougars will play six pre-season games, the first five on the road and the final one at CN Centre.

The Cougars will host Kamloops Saturday, September 19th which coincides with the Vancouver Canucks Training Camp.

The Cats start exhibition play September 4th in Kamloops. They also visit Kelowna September 5th before taking part in a pre-season showcase in Kennewick, Washington.

P.G will face off against Portland Wednesday, September 9th, Everett on September 10th (11am) and Kootenay on September 12th (11am).

–North Bay Battalion bench boss Stan Butler has been named the head coach for Canada’s summer Under-18 team. Butler, a former coach of the PG Cougars, will lead the Canadian team into the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.

–There are two games left in the Prince George Senior Lacrosse regular season. The 5-5 Quesnel Crossfire battle the 0-11 Cowboy Ranch Stylers tonight (Wednesday) at 8 at Kin 1. The Crossfire also meet the 8-3 BX Pub Bandits Thursday at 8pm in Quesnel.

–PG Senior Lacrosse playoffs open Monday at 8pm with the BX Pub Bandits against Quesnel at Kin 1. The Westwood Pub Devils take on the Northland/Nissan Assault in game one of that semi-final series Tuesday at 8pm at Kin 1.
