Saskatoon Blades  5  Prince George Cougars  2

The Blades broke open a 1-1 game with four goals in less than six minutes in the first half of the 3rd period.

Both teams had 26 shots in front of 2,162 fans at CN Centre.

WHL Player of the week Chase Wheatcroft had one assist for P.G. to extend his point streak to 14 games.

Prince George remains 6th in the Western Conference, four points behind Everett and Tri-City with all three teams having 17 games left in the regular season.

The (24-23-4) Cougars are idle until Family Day when they host the (36-11-2-2) Portland Winterhawks Monday afternoon at 2:00.

The (22-16-3-1) Prince George Spruce Kings face the Salmon Arm Silverbacks Saturday night at 7:00 and Sunday at noon with both of those games in Burns Lake.

Prince George is 4th in the 9-team Interior Division, a point ahead of Salmon Arm.

BC Elite Hockey League: (BCEHL)

(U18 male)  

The (15-14-1-2) Under-18 Cougars host the (23-3-4-2) Greater Vancouver Canadians Saturday night at 6:30 and Sunday morning at 11:00 at Kin 1.

Greater Vancouver is 1st and Cariboo is 6th in the 9-team division.

Canada West Basketball:

The UNBC Timberwolves hit the road for Canada West basketball play-in games.

The UNBC women play Fraser Valley Friday at 11 am (PT) in Edmonton and the UNBC men go against Regina Friday night at 5:00 in Victoria.

The play-in winners advance to the quarterfinals.

The Timberwolves finished 8-12 in both the women’s and men’s divisions.
