HOT WEATHER CONTINUES TO SCORCH NORTHERN BC

The heatwave across most of BC found it’s way up north this past weekend.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Andre Besson says while Prince George did not break any records, Williams Lake did.

“Saturday temperatures reaching a high of 30.3 degrees the previous record was 29.5 held in 2006 and on Sunday it reached a new record of 31.4 degrees with the previous record of 30.1”

Besson adds temperatures will remain well above normal bringing some unsettling weather across much of the Cariboo region.

“Expect temperatures to be around 5 to 10 degrees above normal for this time of the year in the meantime over the next two days in the Cariboo and Prince George area expect a week of disturbance to move through with a chance of showers and thunder showers over the area”

64 temperature records were broken across BC this past weekend.

The public is reminded to keep cool, avoid strenuous activity during peak hours and to stay hydrated during this time.
