City Staff report $25.5 million in capital spending for 2014

The City of Prince George has a few more bucks in the bank.

The reserve fund in the city went up from around 42 million to 55 million.

Director of Finance Kris Dalio says this is due to the sewer and water increases that have happened over the last few years.

“Council has made a priority to make the sewer and water rates self-sustainable to the point where we don’t need to go out and acquire debt to address our infrastructure needs,” says Dalio, “we should be able to pay for our capital needs up front.”

The city also spent $25.5 million on capital spending last year.

He says this number fluctuates depending on what projects the city has on the go.
