Prince George Ramada workers vote in favour of strike action

More picket lines could be popping up in Prince George as workers at the Ramada may be taking job action.

On Thursday, the workers at the Prince George Ramada have voted 87 per cent in favour of strike action.

According to a release from UNITE HERE Local 40, the workers have been without a contract for over ten months.

“This is about securing a standard that will allow us to live comfortably so that we are not struggling as individuals,” said Monisa Boudreau, a housekeeper at the Ramada.

“This is about separating the gap between what we’re making and what’s a realistic living wage.”

The union says wages at the hotel are between $17 and $18 per hour, while the living wage to support a family in Prince George is $21.19.
