With BBQ season officially upon us, the BC Safety Authority is asking people to double-check propane equipment before using it.
There is always the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, or starting a fire.
“Make sure if you have any worn or rusted fittings, hoses, or burners, have them replaced, and test for cylinder leaks” warns BCSA Acting Communications Director Frank Do.
Carbon monoxide is colourless and odourless, and has a slew of symptoms including fever, nausea, and dizziness.

Propane BBQs are safest when used in a well-ventilated area.
Between 2007 and 2013, 62 carbon monoxide related deaths were reported in BC.
