PG MAN IN CUSTODY AFTER FIRE BAN ASSAULT

A 23 year old Prince George resident who allegedly tried to steal a fire truck, and threatened police with a chain saw is in jail facing a list of charges.

On Friday night the 100 Mile House RCMP were called to an assault in progress.

Members of the local volunteer fire department, were responding to a call, that a camp fire had been set.

The male suspect, when told of the fire ban, became abusive and then allegedly tried to steal the fire truck, assaulting the volunteers.

Eventually RCMP subdued the man, but not before being assaulted themselves.

The male is facing numerous charges including assault with a weapon, and assaulting a police officer, and remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
