The Prince George Spruce Kings have acquired 19-year-old defenceman Mitch Meek in a 3-team trade that also involved the Vernon Vipers and West Kelowna Warriors. The Spruce Kings gave up the rights to 20-year-old forward Luke Harrison in the deal.

Meek, who notched 18 points and 38 penalty minutes last season in the BCHL, is committed to NCAA divison 1 Clarkson University for the 2016-17 season.

–The Westwood Pub Devils dumped Northland Nissan Assault 17-4 to easily sweep their best of 5 Prince George Senior Lacrosse semi-final series 3-0. The Devils, riding a 39-game win streak, outscored the Assault 49-6 in the series.

The Devils and second place BX Pub Bandits start the best of 7 PG Senior Lacrosse best of 7 playoff final for the Dale Rolufs Memorial Trophy Monday night at 8 at Kin 1.

–The Provincial Youth Soccer Championships continue until Sunday. Prince George is competing in five divisions:
U14 B Girls in Nelson, U14 B Boys in 100 Mile House, U16 B Girls and Boys in Penticton and U18 A Girls in Surrey.

–The Pan-Am Games start with opening ceremonies tonight (Friday) in Toronto. Competition runs until July 26th. Prince George is represented by three athletes: Inner City boxer Kenny Lally, High Jumper Alyx Treasure and pitcher/first baseman Amanda Asay, who is part of the Canadian women’s baseball team.
