CHARGES LAID AFTER FIRE AT PG RCMP BUILDING

A 43 year old man is facing arson-related charges after an incident at the RCMP detachment yesterday.

Corporal, Craig Douglass has the details.

“Person in the cell was responsible for starting a fire, which caused damage to the cell and caused a lot of smoke which forced an evacuation of all the other prisoners and building personnel for precautions.”

Douglass says they are thankful no one was injured.

“BC Ambulance and the fire department did attend with paramedics, no injuries were reported and the prisoners were taken to the regional correctional centre until we could get the cells cleaned up.”

The suspect is expected to be charged today.
