PG’S RELAY FOR LIFE RANKED FIRST FOR SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR

For the second year in a row, Prince George has the number one ranked Relay for Life in Canada.

Canadian Cancer Society Team Lead for Community Giving, Helen Owen says it’s a great accomplishment.

“To achieve this for a second year in a row is phenomenal considering there were over 300 relay for life events in Canada this year.”

Owen adds there are several reasons for the number one ranking.

“I think a lot of it has to do with Prince George being the only 24 hour relay in the country which is pretty amazing, you know cancer affects all of us I think this community just joins together to celebrate survivor-ship and remember those who have passed.”

This year’s event has raised 519 thousand dollars so far with more donations coming in until the end of August.

Prince George surpassed Terrebonne, Quebec for top spot in 2014 after finishing behind them the year prior and Coquitlam in 2012.
