PG woman to talk electric cars at farmers market

A Prince George woman will be talking electric cars at the local farmers market this morning.

Rebecca Abernathy drove her Nissan Leaf 800 kilometres from Vancouver to Prince George and wants to bring awareness to these cars.

Abernathy says they have one major benefit.

“Electric vehicles produce zero emissions they don’t use any oil or gasoline whatsoever and because of most of our electricity is hydro electric the total life cycle of emissions is substantially lower from a conventional vehicle.”

Abernathy says she saves about five thousand dollars a year in gas and maintenance costs.

Electric cars produce zero emissions and the Leaf uses only $1.50 worth of electricity for every 100 kilometres travelled.

She will be at the farmers market from 8:30 until 2pm.

Her appearance is part of the Emotive campaign which raises awareness of electric vehicles in BC.
