The Hart Judo Academy brought home a pair of silver medals from the Canadian Judo Championships in Saguenay, Quebec. Brendan Bellavance came second in the U21 male-100kgs class while Lavanna Laass came second in the Senior Women’s-63kgs division.

–Three PG Youth Soccer teams earned a medal at the Slurpee Cup Tournament in Kamloops. The Under-14 Boys captured gold, the U16 Girls earned silver and the U15 Boys ended up with bronze.

–The PG Track and Field Club racked up 22 medals, 14 of them gold, at the Kamloops Centennial Track Meet. 18 year old Carly Frenkel took gold in long jump, triple jump and discus. 69 year old Tuomas Ukonmannaho also won three gold as he finished first in the 100m, 200m and pole vault. The North Central Zone High School meet is scheduled for Thursday and Friday at Masich Place.

–Competing for K-State, Alyx Treasure of Prince George placed 2nd in the women’s high jump at the Big 12 Outdoor Track Championships in Lubbock, Texas. Treasure took silver after she cleared the bar at 1.81 metres.

–The Prince George Northern Eagles Tier 2 junior football team missed the playoffs with an 0-4 record in the BC Conference after losing its final game 45-0 to the North Delta Longhorns.

–The Westwood Pub Devils, coming off a 16-9 victory ove the Quesnel Cariboo Hotel Crossfire, continue to dominate the PG Senior Lacrosse Association with a perfect 7-0 record.

–In Spruce City Men’s Fastball: the Superior Fencing Reds (formerly Big Guy Lake Reds) crushed Falcon Contracting 10-1.

–The Super Truck Racing Series will be featured on opening weekend at PGARA. 12 high-powered trucks from BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan take to the track Saturday at 7pm and Sunday afternoon.
