Amanda Asay among five inductees heading into PG Sports Hall of Fame

The Prince George Sports Hall of Fame and its Board of Directors this morning (Thursday) announced five individuals as Inductees for the years 2019 to 2023.

Athlete

  • Amanda Asay – Baseball
  • Kenny Lally – Boxing
  • Megan Tandy – Biathlon

Coach/Builder

  • Joe Rea – Wheelchair Curling
  • Edna Stitt – Baseball, Softball, and Hockey

At the time of Asay’s passing, she was the longest-serving member of Baseball Canada Women’s National Team program. Amanda died in a skiing accident in Nelson in January of 2022.

The Hall of Fame had a total of 16 nominations to choose from and is now up to 83 Alumni.

This year’s banquet will be held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel on Saturday, April 6th, 2024.

Details of the event will be confirmed within the next month.

On this same evening, the local Sports Hall of Fame will be recognizing 14 deserving youth athletes in the Rising Star Category.

The full list of individuals will be known later this month.
