Love Downtown PG campaign enjoying success

The results have been positive from the Love Downtown PG shop local program.

Northern Development Initiative Trust Director of Business Development, Renata Kings says highlighting many of the local businesses within the downtown core is vital.

“You don’t have a Cimo’s in the mall, you don’t have the Prince George Florist and the things they have in any of the other stores so it really is about highlighting the independent and very unique businesses.”

King says the Small Town Love Program has seen success across the region.

“27 communities even as small as Granisle have a Love Granisle website one of our most successful ones is on Haida Gwaii, Haida Gwaii has a population of 3500 people there are 120 businesses profiled on Love Haida Gwaii”

It’s one of the most successful marketing campaigns undertaken by the downtown association in Prince George with 47 profiles currently on the lovedowntownpg.com website.

The program started out as a pilot project in 2013 in smaller communities including Burns Lake, 100 Mile House, Vanderhoof, Valemont and Logan Lake.
