Its that time of year again, kids are on their way back to the classroom and parents are reminded about immunizations.
With many skeptical about the effectiveness and worried about the dangers of vaccinations for children, Public Health Nurse Carolyn Bouchard wants to open a dialogue with parents:
“What we ask of parents is that if they are unsure about whether they should vaccinate or not, to talk to a healthcare provider. The public health nurses here at the health unit are experts at immunizations”
She says the schools themselves will also have public health nurses on hand providing information on the first days of school.
Bouchard says it is vital that children receive ALL of their vaccinations when heading into the classroom, as many preventable diseases can kill without proper immunization.
