Province sets up 1 million dollar fund for Syrian refugee settlement

The BC Government is setting aside 1 million dollars for Syrian refugees settling in the province.

Premier, Christy Clark says it will assist them in a variety of ways.

“It will fill the gaps in the services that are required for people who will find their way around British Columbia once they get here, we all know the families coming will require services like trauma counselling and language services.”

Clark adds BC is leading the way on the number of immigrants coming to the province.

“We welcomed 36 thousand immigrants to our province last year, we are proud to have as much immigration as we do and 1,528 of them were refugees.”
